In the list compiled by the international food portal of 40 foods and wines to taste in 2023, the top four products in the dairy category are Italian PDOs and PGIs.

Italian Food&Beverage is honored again in the ranking by TasteAtlas, an international gastronomic portal. The list, which cites 40 foods and wines "to taste in 2023" and, in any case, "at least once in a lifetime, which is too short not to try the best of world gastronomy," is particularly flattering when looking at the five kinds of cheese considered the best in the world.

The top four are all Italian: Parmigiano Reggiano, spicy Gorgonzola, Burrata, and Grana Padano. Widening our gaze to the complete ranking of the 50 finest kinds of cheese, we find that Italian productions gain as many as eight positions in the top ten and 12 in the top 20.

In addition to the cheeses already mentioned, we find Stracchino di Crescenza (sixth place), Mozzarella di Bufala Campana (7), Pecorino Sardo (9), and Pecorino Toscano (10), as well as Pecorino Romano (15), Bocconcini (16), Taleggio (17), Provola (20), Stracciatella (23), Fiore Sardo (24), Mozzarella (28), sweet Gorgonzola (37), Caciocavallo Silano (42) and, finally, Provolone del Monaco (44).
